Biography

Ruble Norton of Tusculum passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on May 9, 2023 at the age of 91. A veteran of the Korean War, Ruble was a member of New Haven church and a former employee of Magnavox. He worked for a number of years as a carpenter before retiring to spend time focusing on the two things that mattered the most to him – his farm and his family. He loved to walk the fields counting his cows. He was the first one to help a neighbor or a family member with anything they needed and was known to sneak candy to his grandkids at every opportunity. Each grandchild had a personal nickname bestowed upon them and that was how he always referred to them. Ashley was Pumpkin; Savannah was Half-Pint; Ariel was Cotton-Top; Tad was Rooster. He was a loving husband, and a much-adored father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everette and Ruby Norton; brother Cecil Norton; and sister Verniece Hensley.
He is survived by his wife Alma “Thell” Norton; daughter Tammie Feathers; son Kenneth Norton (Kelyn); granddaughter Ashley Craven (Joe); granddaughter Savannah Griffin (Brad); granddaughter Ariel Minnick (Logan); and grandson Tad Norton (Meagan); Great-grandsons Joseph and Kaz Craven; Easton and Zeke Griffin; Kieran Minnick; and Great-granddaughter Blakeleigh Craven; Brother-in-law Larry Norton (Ron Carpenter); Sister-in-law Ruth Norton; and several nieces and nephews; Special friends and neighbors Mike and Kathy Myers, Ted and Louise Wilhoit, Chris Wilhoit, and Chris Gray.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Silver Angels; Amedysis Home Health & Hospice; as well as individual caretakers Marlene Waddell, Naomi Long, Roxanne Woodby, Anne Kilday, Rachel Thompson, and Lisa May.
The family will receive visitors Thursday May 11, 2023 from 5-7 PM at Jeffers Funeral Home in Afton. Funeral service will immediately follow with Reverend Jerry Hensley. Graveside services will be held Friday May 12, 2023 at 1 PM with Pastor Bobby Morrison in Graceland Memorial Gardens. The Greene County Honor Guard will convey military honors. Pallbearers will be Tad Norton, Joe Craven, Brad Griffin, Logan Minnick, Mike Myers, and Matthew Myers. Honorary pallbearer is Snide Hensley.
